Bio: I am an MA student at the University of Otago in New Zealand. My thesis is interested in anti-rape media campaigns and the extent to which they resist, reinforce or create alternative discourses which underpin and perpetuate sexual violence. In my working life I have been involved in the sexual violence sector for the last five years where I volunteer supporting survivors of sexual abuse, their whanau and friends. I am particularly interested in preventing sexual violence and am also involved in creating prevention programmes and materials. My other research interest areas that coincide with this work are the impacts of colonisation on Tangata Whenua, secondary victimisation, feminist legal theory, sexuality, love, gender roles, rape crisis feminism and victim hood (to name just a few). My two fan girl feminist crushes are Andrea Dworkin and bell hooks.
